Please could you propose that the Local Government and Housing Committee investigate the greater use of Section 120 of the Local Government Act to ensure Local Authorities use this power to purchase properties on the open housing market to enable more affordable housing to be provided quickly. My own local authority, Conwy County Borough Council has not used this power in the last two years.

It seems to me the lack of affordable housing is the biggest issue in Wales.

We have over 300 households in bed and breakfast accommodation in CCBC.

It does not make sense to me that local authorities and housing associations do not use their full statutory powers to purchase properties on the open market.

Welsh Government could allocate additional funds to each local authority to do this urgently, especially as Welsh Government are presently not using their full borrowing powers.

I own a house/home, I really do not understand why politicians and civil servants and local authority officers want to limit others having an house/home particularly as the borrowing facilities are available.

I am happy to have a discourse about this with civil servants or politicians.
